I hadn't read the Wikipedia article on them but I had reasoned that, with their darker color and more intense flavor, the antioxidant content had to be good. Yes, I also sing the praises of oranges. The taste is very refreshing and a glass of orange juice lifts the spirits - a very cheerful food. The great world teacher, Paramahansa Yogananda recommended eating raw food as much as a person could. He often suggested daily intake of orange juice as a cleanser and energy booster. If I haven't had sufficient sleep, I find that, in addition to daily practise of the Self-Realization Fellowship techniques of energization and meditation, if I take in only orange juice during the day, it gives me tremendous energy at almost no energy cost to the body. (To learn more about Paramahansa Yogananda, his books, and his teachings on meditation, you can go to www.yogananda-srf.org.)

I lived in Europe in the 1980s and ate blood oranges from Italy. They were amazing! I have no idea what the difference is between theirs and those from other countries, but the ones from Italy I can vouch for. They were unbelievably delicious!

Hmm...not sure Molly but there must be a market somewhere over there in England that imports these bloody oranges from Italy, who apparently have excellent blood oranges.

Good luck!

Hmm...I'll have to give that a shot Jeremy. I'm not a big fan of salt but I'm willing to try near anything.

A teeny pinch of salt on a wedge of blood orange is also bloody good.
